I can help you find exceptional quality boat building materials (wood), bronze winches and turnbuckles, wooden shell blocks, bronze hardware and fasteners, as well as parts for a JABSCO pump, canvas buckets, unusual tools and equipment. If you are looking for maritime information, old nautical books, or a boat to charter in Patagonia, a real sea going galley stove, kerosene lights, or just about anything else, please ask. FREE LANCE WRITING:

I have written for numerous publications and helped research articles and books for several authors. I have a home office, a large nautical library and access to additional reference material and resources. I can provide assistance researching a specific topic, or help verify information and sources.

Pamphlets and Brochures: I specialize in writing about traditional chandlery and gear. If you have a product or service that needs a promotional brochure or pamphlet, I can help you with narratives and lay out . One caveat: I will not write about any piece of gear or a service that I wouldn’t use personally on my own boat, or at sea.

PROGRAMS

The Islander Medical Program: Sponsored by The Permanent Endowment for Martha's Vineyard and funded by the generous contributions of many Islanders, we offer a program which takes groups of 10 - 14 Islanders sailing for 4 - 5 hours from Vineyard Haven. This year the program will take place on the schooner WHEN AND IF. Participants must be Island residents who have been recently diagnosed and treated for a serious medical problem, who have a chronic medical problem, or are recently bereaved. We are working with a number of Island community health and support groups including the MV Hospital, Hospice, the AIDS Alliance of Martha's Vineyard, the Cancer Support Group, MV Community Services, the Prostate Support Group, Vineyard House, and the MS Support Group as well as others to offer this opportunity on specific days. The program takes place in July, September and October (if weather permits). Participants sail at no expense and are welcome to bring a friend or family member to share the experience. Guests must be able to negotiate (with assistance) the step between the Tisbury Wharf and the deck of WHEN AND IF.

In 2002 on WHEN AND IF and in 2003 on AIRLIA we took Islanders with a wide variety of medical problems including people with cancer, AIDS/HIV, tick borne diseases, addiction problems, Arthritis, participants in cardiac rehab and dialysis, respiratory ailments, MS, recovering alcoholics, and many recently bereaved. In order to participate you need not be a member of a formal support group but you must be an Island resident. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 WHEN AND IF provided relaxing day sails for over 100 islanders through HOSPICE and various medical support groups.
